The days and weeks following birth are a bit of magic, a bit of excitement, a bit of exhaustion, a lot of diapers—and completely unique to the new family that's forming. The theoretical has become a tangible reality and new needs arise daily, even hourly. Whether you gave birth in a hospital or at home, there will be a time when the baby has arrived and the work of the fourth trimester begins. Every new parent has questions, needs reassurance, and could simply use the comfort of someone who can offer solutions born from knowledge and training, as well as gentle encouragement in a judgment-free space.
A doula offers non-medical emotional, physical, and logistical support to the whole family, including non-birthing partners, siblings, grandparents, extended family, and anyone else in this precious orbit. We are also trained in both body feeding and newborn care and are happy to assist with light household chores and meal prep. Doulas can help answer questions that arise with evidence-based research and referrals to trusted experts.
Whether there's a special postnatal diet you're interested in, you'd like to learn about belly binding, or it's time to ask a lactation specialist about a body feeding issue, we're there as a resource. I believe one of our most important jobs is to listen, hold space, and affirm the truth that you know what is best for your baby.
Originally from Florida, I moved to L.A. in 2007 (via Boston and New York) when my husband Aaron and I got married. My ambition was always to be a mom, and I was so fortunate to be at home with our three sweet, spirited kids. Now I've found myself craving another purpose, and I've found my passion in this area where there is also a need.
I am a proud ally of the BIPOC, LGBTQIA, and differently-abled communities, and I'm committed to making the world more socially just, equitable, and free for all children. Mental, emotional and physical health matter, and you deserve the support you desire.
I completed my postpartum training with DONA International, as well as additional lactation and body feeding training. I'm certified through The Red Cross for Infant, Child, and Adult CPR and First Aid. I am up-to-date on all vaccinations and COVID boosters and am always happy to wear a mask in your home for your comfort and safety.
